The volumes of railway repairs by Ukrzaliznytsia increased by almost 20%

In 2023, the company renovated 1308.3 km of tracks through various types of repairs, marking a 19.6% increase compared to 2022, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Capital repairs restored 495.6 km of tracks, a 5.7% rise from the previous year.

The mid-level track repairs surpassed the previous year’s figures by 30%, resulting in the restoration of 812.7 km of tracks.
Additionally, Ukrzaliznytsia performed capital repairs on 284 sets of switch turnouts last year, while 690 sets underwent average repairs.
Furthermore, the company restored 6.6 km of tracks and 30 artificial structures damaged due to military actions.
For the year 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to update 1197.5 km of tracks through various repair methods.
Railway workers have maintained the electrical supply devices in proper condition.
In 2023, nearly 8,000 km of the contact network on main station tracks underwent routine maintenance.
This included replacing 217 km of worn-out contact wires, 141 km of corroded supporting cables, 697 defective and obsolete contact support structures, 12.2 thousand insulators of outdated types with polymer ones, and the modernization of 173 sectional insulators.
Additionally, 18 transformers were thoroughly repaired, 31 current and voltage transformers were replaced at traction substations,” as stated in the report.
As reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia, as part of the World Bank project, received 46 units of equipment for infrastructure restoration, totaling $2.76 million.
By the end of August 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia is set to receive additional equipment worth $4.6 million.
