The “Hellas Express” train service is expected to remain unavailable until December. Meanwhile, the Hungarian express line connecting Skopje and Belgrade has not been operational for a considerable period. These interruptions have disrupted travel plans for many passengers.

Project to Build a Railway in Kyrgyzstan: Goals and Economic Benefits

Ongoing construction on the Niš-Preševo railway line in Serbia has led to restricted train movements in the southern region. This limitation has caused a domino effect, directly impacting the railways of Macedonia and halting cross-border train operations.

Travelers aiming to visit Europe by train must now begin their journeys from Niš or Belgrade instead of Skopje. This adjustment is inconvenient for many but necessary due to the current infrastructure challenges.

These disruptions underscore the pressing need for modernization of regional railway networks. Investments in infrastructure could mitigate the long-term impact of such issues on transportation. Improved railway lines would enhance connectivity and provide consistent service to travelers and businesses.

For now, the suspension of the railway line linking Belgrade, Skopje, and Thessaloniki remains a major obstacle for international train travel in the region.
