The Port of Brunswick will open the first phase of its expanded rail yard by the end of June, enhancing auto logistics and doubling its weekly train service. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Located on the south side of Colonels Island Terminal, the new yard will support up to 10 trains per week instead of the current five. This boost addresses the port’s increasing roll-on/roll-off cargo demand.

By enhancing rail logistics, the Port of Brunswick is positioned to attract additional traffic from car manufacturers seeking faster, more dependable delivery routes.
Future Expansion to Boost The Port of Brunswick Capacity
The second phase of the intermodal yard, set for completion in 2028, will further increase annual capacity to 590,000 vehicles. This stage represents a $54 million long-term investment.
These combined upgrades will streamline cargo flow and enable the port to manage rising volumes with greater speed and flexibility.
As construction advances, stakeholders expect the project to solidify the port’s reputation as one of the most efficient roll-on/roll-off terminals on the East Coast.
