The main goals include ensuring reliability, affordability, efficiency, quality, and safety of railway transportation.
Special attention is focused on the nationalization of Train Operating Companies, responsible for passenger transport across Britain under franchise agreements. This move echoes the nationalization of Railtrack into Network Rail in 2001 and aims to improve services for passengers.
Additionally, they plan to establish a new state body called Great British Rail.
There are also plans to strengthen cooperation with local authorities to manage regional transport systems.
Key challenges such as high ticket prices and schedule variability will be addressed through digitizing ticket systems and improving operational relationships.
