It’s noteworthy that fuel consumption was only 40 kg of hydrogen, showcasing impressive efficiency.
The new locomotive features a hybrid traction system, including hydrogen fuel cells and lithium batteries.
It has a design speed of 100 km/h and a maximum power of 2400 kW (3260 hp), allowing it to handle a maximum starting traction force of 560 kN and tow up to 10,000 tons on a straight track, or up to 5,000 tons on a 4‰ gradient.
This success is not the first for CRRC in the field of hydrogen energy.
Last year, the company introduced Ningdong, the first hydrogen locomotive converted from a diesel locomotive.
In March of this year, CRRC also successfully completed trials of its first hydrogen train.
These achievements mark an important step in the development of a clean and efficient transportation system, reducing emissions and contributing to sustainable development.
CRRC and China Energy Group will continue to work on refining hydrogen technologies in the transportation industry, opening up new horizons for the future of environmentally friendly transportation.
