The former head of the Moldovan railway was detained by Interpol

Yuri Topale is on the international wanted list, he is accused of embezzling about $14 million.
On January 12, Interpol officers in Belgium detained the former head of the Moldovan Railways, Iurie Topale, reports Railway Supply magazine citing Mintans.
He is accused of embezzlement of assets on an especially large scale and corruption. According to the prosecutor office, he embezzled more than 250 million lei from the CFM ($13.8 million). Now the Moldovan and Belgian authorities are determining further steps to extradite Topale.
Topale headed the railway from 2015 to 2019.
