The final batch of 2TE25KM and TEM18DM locomotives was sent to Mongolia
15.12.2021
Four main locomotives 2TE25KM manufactured at the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (JSC UK BMZ, part of Transmashholding) were sent to the Ulaanbaatar Railway under a contract signed in 2019.

Three more shunting locomotives TEM18DM manufactured by BMZ were sent in November 2021. Earlier, in January 2020, seven locomotives 2TE25KM and one TEM18DM arrived there. This was reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to the information of the holding.
In total, Transmashholding sent 10 shunting and 14 mainline locomotives to Mongolia under this contract. Two of the TEM18DM locomotives delivered in 2021 are designed to operate on 1435 mm track lines.
TMH won the tender for the supply and maintenance of 95 electric trains for D-3 and D-4 lines
TEM18DM shunting locomotives have been in operation in Mongolia for more than 10 years, 2TE25KM main freight locomotives have been delivered there since 2017. Taking into account the latest batch, 40 BMZ locomotives will now operate on the Ulaanbaatar Railway.
The mainline and shunting locomotives supplied to the Ulaanbaatar Railway are created taking into account the peculiarities of operation in Mongolia – high dust and a sharp drop in temperature typical of the local climate. Modern microprocessor systems used in locomotives allow to determine the required load of diesel generator and traction machines, to control the operation of auxiliary equipment, which increases the efficiency of locomotives.
BMZ has serial production of both main cargo locomotives 2TE25KM and 3TE25K2M, and shunting locomotives TEM18DM. They are needed on public railways and industrial enterprises in Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Belarus.
