The EU has taken Spain to court over railway regulation breaches

The European Commission raised concerns about the independence of ADIF, Spain’s state-owned railway infrastructure company, in upholding a “single European railway area.”, this is reported by the railway transport news portal, Railway Supply, citing RT
ADIF, responsible for Spain’s extensive 4,000km high-speed rail network, faces questions about its ability to draft contracts and set infrastructure charges.

While no specific deadline has been imposed, the EU’s move may temporarily impact Spain’s high-speed rail industry, which is known for competitive pricing and excellent service.
Spain’s success in leveraging EU rail policies has led to a robust high-speed rail network with minimal delays and cancellations, offering passenger refunds for significant delays.
In comparison, France and the UK have different records in high-speed rail development.
France boasts 2,785km of high-speed rail, while the UK, dealing with challenges surrounding the HS2 project, has only 68km.
