The establishment of the logistics center Horonda Platform

Italian Minister of Business Adolfo Urso announced Italy’s intention to sign a memorandum with Ukraine regarding the Horonda Platform logistics center in Zakarpattia – a joint project of an Italian consortium led by FS Group (Italian State Railways) and the Ukrainian NSV Group, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
According to him, the project for the Horonda intermodal logistics platform, ‘aimed at supporting commercial exchanges with Ukraine, especially… when Ukrainian ports have been severely affected by the ongoing conflict,’ was discussed with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko before the start of the second session of the G7 Ministers of Industry, Technology, and Digital Technologies in Verona on March 15.

As clarified by the managing partner of the NSV Group, Nikolay Shapovalov, the Horonda Platform project includes a 13-hectare dry port, a 35-hectare industrial park, and a silo storage facility with a capacity of 50,000 tons.
The first stage of the project envisages two tracks of 1520 and 1435 mm gauge each for a distance of 1 km.
Expansion and capacity increase are also provided for.
All permits have already been obtained, and the final design stage is underway.
At the same time, preparatory work for construction, which will begin at the end of May, is ongoing.
As previously reported, a terminal is planned to be built in the Mukachevo district using the European track gauge near the former elevator.
The Italian State Railways also planned to join the project.
