The Competition and Consumer Protection Authority of Poland is investigating allegations against Newag
18.12.2023
The authority has already requested detailed documents and explanations from the company, reports the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to Nakolei Pl.
In early December, it was reported that Newag might intentionally induce faults in its trains to secure repair contracts.
Additionally, there has been an escalation of conflict between Newag and Dragon Sector, a cybersecurity and reverse engineering group, which issued a statement regarding the testing of Newag Impuls train software.
The scandal surrounding the well-known railway rolling stock manufacturer continues to unfold following statements from parliamentarians Paulina Matisyak and Adrian Zandberg.
In response, the Competition and Consumer Protection Authority (UOKiK) has initiated an explanatory proceeding.
The President of the Competition and Consumer Protection Authority, Tomasz Chrestny, initiated the procedure on December 7th, aiming to first determine whether Newag’s actions may have violated competition laws.
If it is found that Newag breached the law, the company could face significant fines.
