The authorities of Kazakhstan have restricted the export of scrap metal from the country
19.02.2024
The Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy of Kazakhstan has imposed a ban on the export of scrap and waste of ferrous metals through the railway checkpoints “Zhaysan” (Aktobe region), “Aksu” (Kostanay region), and “Aul” (Abay region), this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The reasons are the shortage of raw materials for loading Kazakh processing plants and restrictions on the export of scrap metal imposed by neighboring countries.
According to the Ministry of Industry, in 2023, Kazakhstan collected 1.9 million tons of scrap metal with a domestic market demand of 3.9 million tons.
