The Alstom metro train has arrived in Bucharest, marking a new era for the capital’s public transportation system, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This six-car Metropolis platform, manufactured at the Brazilian factory in Taubate and delivered to the Bercheni depot, promises to revolutionize the metro.

ShockTest Master is a testing platform for secondary suspension springs and vibration dampers/shock absorbers for railway transport

With a capacity of up to 1,200 passengers, including 216 seats, this train is equipped with an advanced CBTC radio-based train control system.

This will reduce train intervals to 90 seconds and increase line capacity by 30%.

Although deliveries started with delays and contract worth €100 million for 13 trains with an option for an additional 17 units promises to be a key step in the development of Bucharest’s metro.

The delivery delay cost the manufacturer €22 million, underscoring the importance of timely implementation of such projects.

Starting from May 14th, commissioning, testing, and subsequent testing of the new train will take place, with it being ready for operation on line M5 in the autumn.

Nine more trains are expected to arrive by the end of this year, and the remaining three next year, offering hope for significant improvement in public transportation in the Romanian capital.
