Thales has signed a contract for the metro line signaling system in Alexandria
29.11.2023
The project, valued at 1.3 billion euros, is partially funded by the EBRD. The 21.7 km metro line will transform a suburban railway, connecting the city center with the outskirts, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Thales will implement the SelTrac system with CBTC radio-based traffic control technology, video surveillance, and fare payment through QR codes, contactless cards, and NFC.
The project involves the collaboration of nearly 500 Egyptian technicians and engineers, emphasizing the engagement of local expertise.
Thales and NAT have been partners since the late 1980s, starting with the first metro line in Cairo.
