Tampa Plans Public Input on New High-Speed Rail Station
08.05.2025
Hillsborough County has launched a public survey to gather opinions on building a new rail station in downtown Tampa, inviting feedback from locals, tourists, and businesses until May 31. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The online form allows participants to share how they would prefer to access the rail station—on foot, by bike, or by car. These responses will influence future mobility options and guide transportation planning.

Survey to Help Define Access Routes for Rail Station
Transit officials are evaluating ways to make the station easy to reach for various users. They aim to balance infrastructure with community needs while integrating walkable streets, bike lanes, and shaded areas.
Staff reviewed Brightline stations in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. These stations offer accessible layouts, retail proximity, and convenient pick-up zones—all features under consideration for Tampa’s project.
Traffic on I-4 continues to worsen, so expanding rail services is viewed as a long-term solution. Brightline’s route from Miami to Orlando already includes stops in key cities and may soon extend to Tampa.
Public Feedback Will Shape Tampa’s Future Mobility
Mayor Jane Castor supported the initiative after testing Brightline herself on a Miami-to-Orlando trip last fall. Her experience highlighted what Tampa could gain from improved regional connectivity.
The survey will impact how passengers travel to the site, help unlock funding, and inform public outreach. To boost engagement, those who respond and submit their email can enter a $100 grocery card raffle.
While the exact station location remains undecided, English and Spanish versions of the survey ensure broad access. The planned rail station could become a central hub for high-speed travel in Florida
