In light of this, political parties in the Senate vetoed a proposal from the Hungarian company Ganz-Mavag due to its ties with Russia.
This move sparked new discussions about a possible merger between Talgo and another Spanish manufacturer, CAF.
However, sources close to both companies indicate that there are currently no clear points of convergence for productive cooperation.
Nevertheless, the initiative of the PNV party, also supported by socialists from the PSOE, aims to mobilize state structures to seek industrial and financial partners.
After the veto of the Ganz-Mavag proposal, such measures are considered necessary to ensure the long-term stability and viability of Talgo.
The development and strengthening of Talgo’s position in the future is of utmost importance for the European Union.
In the coming decades, the EU views this issue as a strategic priority within the framework of its common transport policy.
