Montenegro is granted 226.5 million euros for the modernization of the Bar–Golubovci line, part of the trans-European corridor TEN-T.

This support contributes to the development of railway transport and renewable energy sources in the region, aligning with the EU’s overall plan for the Western Balkans, amounting to 16.6 billion euros.

These financial injections open new perspectives for the development of transportation infrastructure and increased efficiency of transportation in the region.

The modernization of railway corridors in Albania and Montenegro not only enhances the integration of the Western Balkans into the pan-European network but also contributes to the stability of the transportation system.

Specifically, the electrification of the Durrës–Rogozhina line in Albania will provide environmentally cleaner transport, reducing dependence on traditional energy sources.

This is a significant step towards achieving carbon emission reduction goals and improving the environmental sustainability of the region.

The modernization of the Bar–Golubovci line in Montenegro, in turn, promotes the development of cross-border connections and increases the efficiency of freight transport, potentially stimulating economic growth in adjacent regions.

By allocating substantial funds to these projects, the European Union reaffirms its commitment to promoting stable and sustainable development in the Western Balkans.

It is expected that such investments will create favorable conditions for strengthening cooperation in the region and facilitating its integration into the European economic space.
