The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded a contract to a consortium consisting of CRRC Qingdao Sifang and Singapore CRRC Sifang Railway Vehicles Service for the supply of 44 six-car trains for the Cross Island Line (CRL), as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply, citing railway-news.

We are interested in purchasing 20 units of hopper cars of the 19-6869 model or similar

The new fleet of fully automated CRL trains will be designed and manufactured by CRRC Sifang in Qingdao, China.

Each train will be equipped with doors on both sides and wider aisles compared to the existing railway lines, to improve accessibility.

It is expected that the trains will be delivered gradually from 2027 until the start of operations of the first phase of the Cross Island Line in 2030.

The new vehicles will be powered by the 1500 V direct current Overhead Catenary System (OCR), which will provide increased energy efficiency compared to the conventional 750 V third rail system.

Additionally, to enhance operation and maintenance, the CRL trains will be equipped with condition monitoring and diagnostic systems that detect potential equipment faults before issues arise.

Some trains will also be equipped with an automated track inspection system to monitor the condition of the rails and the OCR system.
