Wabtec’s Contract with Vale for New Locomotives
Wabtec Corp. has secured a contract to manufacture 50 new Evolution series locomotives for Vale, a Brazil-based global mining company. These locomotives will replace existing fleets on Vale’s Vitoria a Minas and Carajas Railroads.

Wabtec will produce 36 EVOBBW locomotives and 14 ES58ACi locomotives at its facility in Contagem, Brazil. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026. Both locomotives will operate using a biodiesel blend. Wabtec President for Latin America, Danilo Miyasato, emphasized their commitment to advanced technologies that reduce CO2 emissions and enhance operational efficiency.
APM Terminals Extends Lease and Invests in Infrastructure
APM Terminals has secured a 33-year lease extension with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. This agreement ensures the terminal in Elizabeth, New Jersey, continues to operate efficiently while meeting performance, infrastructure, and sustainability standards.
APM Terminals will invest over $500 million in upgrading the terminal’s capacity and replacing and maintaining wharf and berth structures. Bethann Rooney, port director, affirmed the investment solidifies the Port of New York and New Jersey as a key hub for shippers through 2062.
Alstom recently celebrated delivering its 500th electric locomotive to Indian Railways. The fully India-made Prima T8 WAG12B e-locomotives were built at Alstom’s Madhepura facility in Bihar. This achievement is part of an ongoing contract worth 3.5 billion euros ($3.7 billion).
Alstom officials confirmed that the WAG12B locomotives provide energy savings and reduce operational costs, easing congestion on India’s railways. The completion of this milestone brings the total order closer to 800 locomotives.
Russell-Kroese Partners (RKP) officially launched its consulting services for the rail, logistics, and real estate development industries.
The firm, founded by Rob Russell and Shawntell Kroese, will offer expertise in contracts, logistics, and real estate development. Russell brings over 23 years of logistics experience from OmniTRAX, Progressive Rail, and Union Pacific Railroad. Kroese, with over 27 years of experience, has worked with rail and truck companies.
She is skilled in managing commodity groups and training sales and marketing teams in the rail industry. RKP aims to provide valuable guidance to companies in these sectors.
