World news of railway freight transportation, as reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply, citing the media.
- Software developer for railway freight management, Everysens, has raised 6 million euros in a Series A funding round organized by Alter Equity. The deal also involves the regional investment fund Rev3 Capital and existing business angels. The funds raised will enable Everysens to invest in research and development and strengthen its presence in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
- Referring to the need to adapt to a “significant reduction in freight volumes,” Estonian company Operail now offers freight transportation of small batches only between major terminals. According to their data, small-scale wholesale transportation at the terminals in Jõgeva, Ülemiste, Keila, and Kehra is currently economically impractical. Regular weekly services are being introduced from Valga/Koidula and Narva to the port of Paldiski to serve customers with wagon loadings, while large freight projects can still be carried out on an individual basis.

- On May 19, Rail Cargo Carrier Southeast, a subsidiary of Rail Cargo Group, sent its first train to Serbia from Dimitrovgrad to Šid. The train carried containers from Halkalı, near Istanbul, through Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria to Gingeng in Germany.
- The TX Logistik division, part of the FS Group, has ordered an additional 115 intermodal wagons of the Tatravagonka T3000 model. Announcing the order on May 23, TX Logistik stated that the T3000 is increasingly becoming the standard wagon for intermodal transportation, capable of carrying semitrailers and containers at speeds of up to 120 km/h and “particularly well adapted” to the NiKRASA loading system.
- BBL Logistik has reached a long-term lease agreement with full-service for a third electro-diesel locomotive Stadler EuroDual from European Loc Pool. One operator has been using it since December 2021, and the second one is planned to be delivered in July.

- Tasmanian and TasRail have recently signed a national memorandum of cooperation, through which railway operators, suppliers, and transport ministers aim to work together to make rail networks more compatible across Australia. TasRail Chairman Stephen Cantwell said it “increases the potential for innovation, local manufacturing, as well as skills and training standardization,” and “although we are physically disconnected from the continental rail networks, we recognize the importance of being able to quickly and efficiently move equipment and personnel between jurisdictions.”
