Southern Railway Announces Special Trains for Festivals

Southern Railway to run festival special trains for Diwali and Chhath 2025 to clear extra rush of passengers. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The additional services will provide round-the-clock services, one specifically at night and two of the services are to connect to South India and the other two to North India.
Special Service Routes and Schedules
Madurai–Barauni Express Special (Train No. 06059) will leave Madurai at 8.40 p.m. on Wednesdays from September 10 to November 26 and reach Barauni at 6.30 a.m. on Saturdays. On the return journey, Train No. 06060 will depart Barauni at 11: 00 p.m. on every Saturday between September 13 and November 29 and arrive Madurai at 7: 45 a.m. on Tuesdays.

On return, the Tirunelveli–Shimoga Town Express Special (Train No. 06103) will leave Tirunelveli at 15.40 hrs on Sundays from September 7 till October 26 to reach Shimoga Town at 13.00 hrs the following day. 2:20pm on all Mondays from September 8 to October 27 to reach Tirunelveli at 10:45am the next day in the reverse direction, Train No. 06104 will leave Shimoga Town at 2:20pm on all Mondays from September 8 to October 27 to reach Tirunelveli at 10:45am the next day.
Passenger Benefits and Reservation Details
These special trains will have halts at important stations including Dindigul, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Arakkonam and Perambur, to benefit passengers travelling in these areas. What’s more, other special services will also open advance reservation on September 2nd, at 8:00 am, provide customers with early reservation opportunity.
