Valued at nearly €10 million, this deal establishes SML as a strategic partner for Deutsche Bahn. The company and its subsidiaries will rely on SML for seamless 5G network deployment.

How Deutsche Bahn Will Benefit from 5G Networks?

These private 5G networks will utilize the 3.7–3.8 GHz spectrum, easily acquired from the Federal Network Agency for a nominal fee. This ensures cost-effective and reliable industrial connectivity.

SML’s high-performance networks will optimize operations in maintenance depots, train formation yards, and transshipment sites. The initiative enhances automation, digitalization, and efficiency in railway infrastructure.

To meet Deutsche Bahn’s needs, SML has designed two specialized system solutions. Additionally, STF Gruppe GmbH will provide selected services to support the project’s implementation.

The networks will run on a 5G standalone architecture, supporting eSIM profiles, network slicing, and 5G RedCap. This ensures Deutsche Bahn gains access to cutting-edge industrial connectivity.
