SKPL has received permission to launch trains to Ukraine

The Polish company SKPL has obtained quick permission to launch trains to Ukraine. The new connection was initially planned to start in June but is now expected to open in the autumn, according to the railway journal Railway Supply, citing SKPL
The Polish Rail Transport Authority has granted Stowarzyszenie Kolejowych Przewozów Lokalnych (SKPL) the permit to operate the route from East Warsaw to Hrubieszów (the border with Ukraine) and then to Rava-Ruska.
According to the Polish carrier’s announcement, SKPL has received the official decision regarding passenger transportation on this route. However, the implementation of the new connection can only occur after schedule adjustments in September. The exact date of the transport launch will be announced later.
SKPL’s application included servicing the route from June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2028, with one train pair per day and a minimum capacity of 240 passengers.
This direction is planned to be included in the international route Warsaw – Hrubieszów – Rava-Ruska – Lviv.
