While technical specifications remain undisclosed, the company emphasizes that the locomotive will serve non-electrified logistics hubs and ports.

The project is being implemented in partnership with OMG MANUFACTURING, a steel structure producer, and BluEnergy Revolution, a renewable energy cooperative.

Czech company DAKO-CZ may have supplied braking components and safety systems integrated into the locomotive’s design.

Hydrogen Locomotive for Logistics Terminals

SITAV President Antonio Ghillia noted that the locomotive is intended for use in non-electrified areas such as terminals, industrial zones, and seaports.

The solution targets emission reduction in high-traffic logistics areas where electrification is either unfeasible or economically unjustified.

Hydrogen Locomotive as a Step Toward Sustainable Rail

SITAV aims to implement clean technologies and promote hydrogen-powered solutions in shunting operations, reducing diesel dependency.

This approach paves the way for cleaner and more energy-efficient operations across Europe’s rail infrastructure, especially in industrial environments.

The company believes that the hydrogen locomotive will help accelerate rail decarbonization efforts across the continent.
