Santa Fe 2926 to Be the Centerpiece of the Event

Santa Fe 2926 will not make excursion runs, but it will be fired up and on full display for the public. Visitors can enter the cab and even blow the whistle, offering a hands-on connection to railroad history.

Because of its rarity and size, the locomotive draws enthusiasts from across the region. And for photography lovers, a night photo session will feature dramatic lighting and close-up access. Tickets for this session are available online at 2926.us.

The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Organizers encourage early arrival to make the most of exhibits and displays.

Santa Fe 2926 Celebrates New Mexico’s Rail Heritage

New Mexico Railroad Days offers more than a showcase—it celebrates the state’s legacy in American railroading. Historical booths, educational programming, and local participation are designed to make this a community-focused event.

Because Santa Fe 2926 stands as a symbol of engineering excellence and regional pride, its appearance promises both spectacle and substance. And the event reinforces Albuquerque’s growing role as a hub for heritage tourism.

So whether you’re a railfan, a history lover, or just curious, New Mexico Railroad Days delivers a rare chance to connect with living history through Santa Fe 2926.
