Romania: Rolling Stock Update

The update of Romania’s rolling stock aims to enhance efficiency and comfort in rail transport, incorporating innovative technologies and modern design, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
• Turkish company Bozankaya announced it will deliver 17 battery-powered trams to the city of Timișoara in western Romania by the end of 2024, with a deal valued at €33 million.
• DB Cargo Romania and PSP Cargo Group Romania are acquiring new Trans Montana model locomotives from Softronic Craiova. In late December, the Romanian branch of DB Cargo received locomotive Trans Montana 082, and the second locomotive, TM 085, is expected to arrive in late April 2024.
• Two experimental Coradia Stream electric trains from Alstom arrived in Velim. This marks the first delivery under the agreement between Alstom and the Romanian Railway Reform Authority (ARF). The contract for the supply of 20 Coradia Stream electric trains was signed in 2022.
• The Galați city municipality signed a €16 million contract with Astra Vagoane Călători for the delivery of 10 new Authentic model trams for the city’s public transportation fleet.
