Amsted Digital Solutions will install IQ Series sensors on wagons. They equip 100 new wagons for coiled steel transport.
These wagons will operate on the Chicago South Shore railroad. It connects Chicago in Illinois to South Bend in Indiana.
Anacostia Rail Holdings gains access to sensor data from wagons. Real-time location and movement information flows instantly.
Sensors provide details on arrival times and cargo presence. They also track empty runs and brake positions.
Moreover, the system monitors impact loads and wagon downtime. This improves management and boosts operational efficiency.
RailPulse Unites Industry Leaders
The partnership began in the U.S. back in 2020. It aims to advance wagon tracking systems.
Major company CSX joined the project in July 2024. It became the eleventh member of this large-scale initiative.
Genesee & Wyoming and Watco operators participate in the partnership. Leading North American wagon manufacturers join too.
Anacostia Rail Holdings owns six freight railroads in the U.S. Their annual shipment volume reaches 2 million wagons.
The company’s rail lines span over 1,223 kilometers across seven states. This ensures reliable logistics and steady deliveries.
The new platform strengthens the company’s market position. It enhances control and safety of freight transport.
Technology actively transforms the railroad industry in 2025. And this system plays a key role in that shift.
