Rail Baltica construction to begin in Estonia by 2026

Rail Baltic Estonia has announced a tender for the Rail Baltica construction in Estonia. The project is estimated to cost up to €932 million, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The project includes two major contracts. The first contract, worth €394 million, covers the construction of the track superstructure for the Tallinn (Ülemiste) — Pärnu line. It also includes the preparation of the track base between Tootsi and Pärnu, which is expected to speed up the project implementation.

The second contract, valued at €332 million, focuses on the design and construction of the Pärnu — Ikla line, located along the Latvian border. Rail Baltic Estonia expects leading international companies to participate in the tender.
Plans and stages for Rail Baltica construction
The contracts for Rail Baltica construction are expected to be signed by the end of 2025. Construction work will begin in 2026, with completion slated for 2030. Local companies have already started preparatory work on the relevant sections.
