Rail and metro services in the Valencian Community face severe disruptions due to recent flooding. Authorities urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel to ensure emergency teams can operate smoothly.

Official Merger of Railway Transport Companies Drives Industry Transformation

The Spanish Ministry of Transport (ADIF) has announced a full suspension of rail services across the Valencian region. This includes the high-speed line from Madrid to Valencia and critical connections to Barcelona. RENFE’s main commuter lines, such as Valencia-Gandia (C1), Valencia-Moixent (C2), Valencia-Utiel (C3), Valencia-Caudiel (C5), and Valencia-Castelló (C6), are all currently halted. High-speed trains, including the AVE routes linking Valencia with Seville, are suspended indefinitely.

Impact on Rail and Metro Services in the Valencian Community

Flooding has also affected metro services throughout the Valencian Community. Metrovalencia operations have ceased, with stations like Carlet suffering extensive water damage. Officials confirm that the València Sud station, which serves as the central hub for Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), experienced significant flooding, leading to a complete halt in services. The damage impacts all lines, and no reopening date has been set.

Public Advisory on Travel in the Valencian Community

Authorities strongly advise the public to avoid any non-essential travel within the Valencian Community. Limiting road and rail traffic will enable emergency responders to carry out their work with minimal interruptions. Additionally, the government issued a cell broadcast to residents, reiterating the need to stay off roads, as outlined by the Valencian Emergency Coordination Center (CECOPI).

While emergency teams assess and address the damage, the public is advised to monitor official updates on the status of rail and metro services in the Valencian Community.
