Rail acquisition: Ukrzaliznytsia plans to spend over 4 billion UAH

In 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to allocate over 7.1 billion UAH for the purchase of materials for the needs of the track economy, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The lion’s share of the funds will be spent on the acquisition of rails – 4.2 billion UAH.
This was announced by the director of infrastructure of the company, Yuzef Tulei, during the Supplier Day 2024.

According to the official, over 7.1 billion UAH will be spent on the purchase of materials for the track economy this year.
Primarily, this concerns materials for the upper track structure.6.6 billion UAH is allocated for purchases.
The main item planned for purchase and already undergoing procedures is railway rails.
It is planned to purchase about 70 thousand tons of products. 4.2 billion UAH will be spent on purchases.
«Since the beginning of the war, rail and rail fastening production in Ukraine has been destroyed. Over the past two years, it has been necessary to involve all European manufacturers. The latest tender procedures highlight the interest of Chinese manufacturers. In the last procedure, 11 manufacturers took part,» noted Yuzef Tulei.
He clarified that Ukrzaliznytsia’s annual demand without major projects ranges from 70 to 100 thousand tons of track products.
As the head of the company’s procurement department, Andriy Tokar, added, rail and rail fastening are critical items for Ukrzaliznytsia.
«The only manufacturer in Ukraine has been destroyed, so these positions are critical for us,» he emphasized.
Yuzef Tulei noted that this year it is planned to carry out major repairs of railway tracks for a total amount of over 5 billion UAH.
This involves updating about 230 km on the main critical routes to ensure freight and passenger transportation.
As reported earlier, over the past two years, Ukrzaliznytsia has allocated 80 billion UAH for purchases.
