The TramCité project in Quebec City constructs a 19-kilometer electric tramway soon. It includes a 1.9-kilometer underground section, boosting connectivity with $245 million added recently.
Federal contributions for TramCité now exceed $1.03 billion, supporting sustainable urban development. Previously, the government invested $767 million into this initiative back in 2019.
This tramway features 29 stations and two park-and-ride facilities for commuters daily. Additionally, it offers five interchanges and an operations center for seamless functionality.
Minister Steven Guilbeault champions these projects to enhance public transit access nationwide. He states they reduce congestion and pollution while creating jobs in Quebec.
Since 2015, Canada supports over 2,000 transportation projects to improve family lives. These efforts also protect the environment and stimulate economic growth across regions.
Quebec Transit Investments Elevate Montréal’s Metro
The Montréal Metro Blue line extension builds five new stations underground soon. It constructs a 6-kilometer tunnel and two bus terminals for better service.
This extension includes a pedestrian tunnel and a mezzanine link for accessibility. Federal funding now surpasses $479 million, lifting the total to $1.4 billion.
Originally, the government pledged over $958 million for this metro project earlier. Now, additional investments ensure modern infrastructure meets Montreal’s growing transportation needs.
Canada also commits $149 million to upgrade the metro’s train control system fully. New technology replaces the old fixed block system for efficiency by 2031.
Last month, Canada chose the Cadence Consortium for the Alto rail project eagerly. This group includes CDPQ Infra and Air Canada, promising innovative transit solutions.
Quebec Transit Investments Link Cities with Speed
The Alto high-speed rail connects Quebec City and Toronto with fast trains. These trains reach speeds of 200 kilometers per hour, outpacing current services significantly.
This investment wave underscores Canada’s focus on sustainable and efficient urban mobility. Consequently, Quebec’s largest cities prepare for a transformative boost in connectivity soon.
Federal backing ensures these projects deliver economic benefits and environmental gains effectively. Thus, residents anticipate improved transit options and reduced travel times starting 2031.
