Currently, 255 former Wärtsilä employees have been hired, and the modernization process for the site has already started. A high level of automation will be the key factor in making the new project efficient, ensuring quick and reliable order fulfillment. Furthermore, the government has allocated €15 million to construct railway access, which will improve the plant’s logistics.
The primary product will be four-axle 80-foot fitting platforms Sggrss, designed for container transport. At the presentation, the team also showcased the Innobogie freight bogie, specially developed for the new production line. Innobogie’s main advantages include reduced weight, decreased wear on wheelsets, and adaptability to different track gauges. Full technical details of the bogie are yet to be disclosed, but its key features make it promising for the modern market.
The industrial partnership between MSC and Innofreight marks a major step in advancing rail logistics and supporting the international production of freight wagons. This project will bring new jobs to Trieste, enhancing Italy’s position in innovative transportation solutions.
