Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the first underwater metro line in India in Kolkata

During his visit to Kolkata, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the country’s first partially underwater metro line, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The underwater metro is part of the Howrah Maidan to Esplanade metro line in Kolkata and passes under the Hooghly River, connecting sister cities through a 520-meter tunnel.

Modi called it a “moment of pride” to ride through the underwater tunnel, stating, “It’s a special day for the residents of Kolkata as the city’s metro network expands significantly. Connectivity will improve, and traffic will ease.”
Additionally, Modi also inaugurated sections of the Kolkata metro from Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay and from Taratala to Majerhat, a new section of the Pune metro, and a section of the Agra metro.
The Indian Prime Minister also inaugurated the expansion project of the first phase of the Kochi metro and the Duhai-Modinagar section of the north corridor of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), flagging off trains on the routes.
