This innovative approach covers both visual and technical aspects.

Thanks to this, trains will have a more comfortable, modern interior, introducing a new quality of travel.

TRAKO 2023 has commenced

At one of Europe’s largest railway exhibitions, TRAKO, held at AmberExpo in Gdansk, a model of a compartment car with a new design was showcased. Fair participants had the opportunity to sit in updated seats and try out additional luggage spaces, which will soon become standard on the national carrier’s trains.

The model was built as a full-scale prototype, and the developed concept will undergo user testing. Importantly, the compartment in the new design is manufactured according to the visualizations provided to the manufacturers in the tender documentation.

The first trains to be manufactured under this new design approach will be the wagons from the largest tender in the history of PKP Intercity in terms of the number of ordered vehicles.

In November of last year, PKP Intercity announced a tender for 300 new wagons, with the option to purchase an additional 150 units.

As part of the procedure, the selected contractor will supply seven wagons of different categories.

The contractor will be announced in the fourth quarter of 2023.
