Alstom has announced that the elevated section of the line will open for regular operation in September 2024.

Currently, the line is in trial operation, during which rides are free for passengers.
Phase one includes an 8.5 km elevated section with eight stations. Upon completion of phase two, the line will extend to 12.5 km with the addition of four underground stations.
This will improve transportation accessibility for 1.6 million residents across six districts of the city. The line is expected to accommodate over 23,900 passengers per hour in each direction.
In 2017, Alstom, leading a consortium with Colas Rail and Hitachi Rail, signed a contract to deliver the Line 3 project. Alstom supplied 10 four-car Metropolis trains, the Urbalis 400 train control system based on CBTC technology, as well as power supply systems and depot equipment.
The project was supported by the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, the French Development Agency, the European Investment Bank, and the Asian Development Bank.
Metropolis trains offer a comfortable experience for passengers. Wide doors facilitate passenger flow, and there are designated spaces for people with limited mobility.
The train bodies are made of aluminum, reducing weight and energy consumption. The design includes elements of traditional Vietnamese ornamentation.
The project involved six Alstom factories in France. Wagons were designed and assembled in Valenciennes, engines were produced in Ornans, bogies in Le Creusot, electrical equipment in Tarbes, the Urbalis 400 train control systems in Saint-Ouen, and automated systems, passenger information, and signaling equipment in Villeurbanne.
