Launched in 2023, the project is part of Renfe’s broader digital strategy. For implementation, Pecovasa partnered with local firm Teralco Solutions, which provided IoT equipment and developed the management software.

Each wagon was fitted with temperature and humidity sensors, GPS navigation, and an accelerometer. All systems are remotely adjustable, allowing for quick responses to changing logistics conditions.

Pecovasa Strengthens Oversight of Car Transport Operations

Teralco also developed an application that shows wagon locations in real time. The system tracks key events such as loading and unloading, with exact time and GPS coordinates.

Currently, the company monitors around 25,000 vehicles per month. This transparency has improved delivery efficiency and reduced the risk of delays or disruptions.

In addition to logistics, Pecovasa now uses AI to evaluate wagon conditions. The system processes telemetry data to generate predictive maintenance insights.

Pecovasa Invests €590,000 in Wagon Fleet Digitalization

The total investment in the project reached €590,000. Of this, €180,000 was provided by European funds as part of transport digitalization support initiatives.

This funding highlights Pecovasa’s commitment to sustainable growth and innovation. The company relies on smart technology to ensure safe and reliable freight operations.

The joint effort by Renfe and Pecovasa sets an example for other operators aiming to achieve full digitalization in logistics and next-generation fleet management.
