The second-generation railcar began field testing its hardware and software at the Parallel test track in Southern California in November 2022.

The vehicle has already completed preliminary tests for emergency stops, braking efficiency, dynamics, temperature control, GPS, communication, and towing.

In 2024, in Pueblo, Colorado, MxV Rail, a subsidiary fully owned by the Association of American Railroads, will conduct suitability testing for the railcars.

This technology is also designed to operate on busier railroads and will contribute to improving the efficiency of freight transport by rail.
