Major works are currently underway in the Lviv, Kyiv, and Odesa regions.

“Despite the war, we must maintain the infrastructure in proper condition and catch up on overdue repairs as much as possible. This is primarily for the safety and speed of passenger and freight delivery. This year, a total of 1,300 km of tracks are planned to be repaired through various methods. We have already completed one-third of the plan. We are also ready to restore infrastructure in territories that will be de-occupied after the counteroffensive of our Armed Forces,” said Evgen Liaschenko, CEO of Ukrainian Railways.

Overall, from January to May 2023, 227.7 km of tracks were renovated through medium repairs and 175.8 km through major repairs.

Major track repairs are actively ongoing on the Luboml-Matseiiv and Vilnohirsk-Erastivka sections, as well as on the Podilsk-Chubivka section. The work on these routes will be completed in June-July.

Recall that in 2022, Ukrainian Railways renovated a total of 1,094 km of tracks, including 625.1 km through medium repairs and 468.9 km through major repairs.

As previously reported, in April 2023, Ukrainian Railways completed the major restoration of a bridge over the Irpin River in Kyiv Oblast, which was destroyed by the enemy in March of last year.

In addition, the Moldovan Railway plans to repair 140 km of tracks with the involvement of Ukrainian Railways.
