The station is now fully accessible for people with disabilities. One of the significant changes was the construction of a road bridge that replaced the level crossing.
New parking areas have also been created, designed to accommodate cars, bicycles, and motorcycles, significantly improving the transportation infrastructure.
Convenient connections to regional bus stops have been established, enhancing the station’s accessibility for passengers. Additionally, noise barriers have been installed, contributing to increased comfort for local residents.
The reconstruction of Wartberg station is just one of many initiatives undertaken by ÖBB along the Vienna–Villach corridor.
As part of these efforts to improve the railway infrastructure, 200 km of tracks have already been modernized, 170 km of new railway sections built, 80 km of tunnels constructed, and 150 bridges erected.
This large-scale project is expected to significantly reduce travel time between key cities in the region.
Upon completion of all works, the travel time between Vienna and Klagenfurt, a distance of 234 km, will be reduced to 2 hours and 40 minutes. The travel time between Graz and Klagenfurt will be reduced to 45 minutes.
ÖBB continues its active work on modernizing the country’s transportation infrastructure, ensuring passenger comfort and safety.
