According to NJ Transit President and CEO Kris Kolluri, the initiative helps local businesses thrive and increases non-commuter ridership. It aims to transform ordinary trips into recreational experiences by linking transit with popular food and drink locations.

NJ Transit Launches Map to Promote Local Exploration

Local business owners are already joining the effort. Pete Merrigan, who owns Yale Terrace Brewery in Cranford, sees it as a win-win. His brewery created a limited-edition All Aboard Ale just for NJ Transit’s campaign.

“This is a great opportunity to enjoy the best of New Jersey without driving,” Merrigan said. His venue is one of many featured on the Pizza and Pints map, which encourages riders to explore safely and sustainably.

To further engage customers, NJ Transit offers a commemorative pint glass through its online Transit Shoppe. This collectible adds a fun twist while building brand connection among transit users.

NJ Transit Launches Strategy to Boost Off-Peak Ridership

The Pizza and Pints program forms part of NJ Transit’s wider strategy to attract leisure travelers and expand off-peak service demand. The agency hopes more residents will view transit not just as a necessity but a lifestyle option.

With summer underway, the campaign arrives at the right moment. It combines local culture with accessible transit and positions NJ Transit as a partner in economic and community development.
