NFR Strengthens Freight Operations Across Northeastern States

In December 2024, NFR unloaded 1,184 freight-carrying rakes, achieving the highest monthly total in the 2024-25 fiscal year. By the end of December, the cumulative count reached 9,404 rakes, setting a remarkable record in efficiency.

NFR Chief Public Relations Officer, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, stated that essential commodities, including food grains, fertilizers, coal, and transport fuel, were delivered to key regions. These goods play a crucial role in supporting the daily lives and economies of remote northeastern areas.

Out of 1,184 rakes, Assam received 638, including 314 with essential goods. Additionally, 98 rakes were unloaded in Tripura, 15 in Nagaland, 13 in Arunachal Pradesh, 10 in Mizoram, and four in Manipur. West Bengal and Bihar also benefitted, with 211 and 195 rakes unloaded, respectively.

Sharma emphasized infrastructure advancements like track doubling and advanced handling facilities. These improvements boosted freight movement and enhanced unloading speed across NFR’s vast operational network.

Continuous monitoring and streamlined logistics reduced turnaround times, ensuring swift delivery of goods. This efficiency has strengthened NFR’s role in supporting the northeastern states’ economic stability.
