New Škoda 45T Trams: Modernity and Comfort for Brno

Dopravní podnik města Brna, a.s. is upgrading its tram fleet by acquiring 20 new Škoda 45T bidirectional trams, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These modern low-floor trams, equipped with air conditioning, will enter service from 2026, gradually replacing the outdated KT8 models.

Investments in this project will amount to 1.5 billion Czech crowns, underscoring a serious commitment to modernizing and improving public transport in Brno.
Miloš Havránek, CEO of DPMB, emphasized the importance of the new trams: “The Škoda 45T trams have a wide range of applications in our city, especially on Line No. 8 and during periods of restrictions and maintenance.”
Škoda Group, the manufacturer of the new trams, continues to demonstrate its commitment to passenger comfort and safety.
Tomáš Ignačák (Škoda Group) noted: “We strive to ensure a pleasant journey for all our passengers, maintaining high standards of comfort and safety.”
It is planned that funding for the tram acquisition will come from DPMB’s own resources or with the assistance of European Union subsidies, highlighting the importance of international cooperation and investment in sustainable urban infrastructure.
Introducing the new Škoda 45T trams into operation by 2026 is part of Brno’s public transport improvement strategy aimed at enhancing mobility and convenience for city residents.
