According to the railway journal Railway Supply, new metro trains from Alstom have begun operating in Brazil and France.

The state carrier of São Paulo, CPTM, has launched the first train of the 8900 series on one of its suburban lines. This eight-car train is based on the Metropolis platform and is designed to carry 2,600 passengers.

The contract for the delivery of 36 trains of this kind was signed in the summer of 2021.

By the end of the year, 11 more trains will be delivered, and the rest of the fleet will arrive in 2024. The rolling stock is being assembled at the factory in Taubaté, Brazil.

In turn, the autonomous transport authority of Paris, RATP, has put into operation the first of 39 five-car MP14 trains on rubber-tire tracks on Line 11 of the city’s metro. By the end of the month, it is planned to launch 20 such trains, and the delivery of the remaining 19 is scheduled for the first half of 2024. The rolling stock, with a total cost of €310 million, was ordered in two batches in 2015 and 2021.
