Turkey is preparing to enhance its transportation infrastructure, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced a new high-speed railway (HSR) project that will connect Ankara and Istanbul, reducing travel time from 4 hours and 20 minutes to just 1 hour and 20 minutes.

This will be possible thanks to the introduction of trains capable of reaching speeds up to 350 km/h.
Currently, high-speed trains operating between Turkey’s two largest cities reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h.
The line currently uses CAF-manufactured TCDD HT65000 trains and Siemens Velaro trains.
However, due to increasing passenger traffic, the existing trains are insufficient to meet demand.
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized the importance of the new project for improving communication between regions of Turkey with a combined population of 25 million people.
“The high-speed trains that currently take 4 hours and 20 minutes are not enough. We plan to launch a high-speed line where trains will reach speeds of up to 350 km/h. This project will significantly improve communication between Turkey’s regions,” said the minister.
Additionally, Turkey plans to implement a high-speed route between Istanbul and Antalya.
The length of the new route will be 425 km and will include cities such as Kütahya, Afyonkarahisar, Isparta, Burdur, and Eskişehir.
Trains on this line are expected to operate at speeds of up to 200 km/h.
These ambitious projects demonstrate Turkey’s commitment to modernizing its transportation system, making travel faster and more convenient, and stimulating regional economic development.
The launch of the high-speed railway will not only reduce travel time between key cities but also improve the quality of life for millions of people living in Turkey.
