As part of this programme, Network Rail has awarded several significant contracts. One, worth £150 million, has been signed with Taziker Industrial for minor construction works.

Agreements with AmcoGiffen and Story, totaling £730 million, will cover construction and various building works.

Additionally, a £420 million contract with QTS will encompass geotechnical and major construction projects.

A new partnership with VolkerRail, representing its first contract in Scotland, amounts to £150 million and will involve signal system installation, electrification, and communications work.

Liam Sumpter, Managing Director of Network Rail Scotland, stated: “We are investing up to £1.3 billion in these framework contracts to maintain and improve rail infrastructure across Scotland. These agreements will enable us to provide safe and reliable rail services for passengers and freight.”

The projects included in the programme will be carried out over the next five years.

They involve the repair of 3.75 miles of coastal protection infrastructure between Kincardine and Torryburn, improvements to drainage systems in Cambusnethan and Falkirk, and the restoration of metal structures on the Findhorn Viaduct between Aberdeen and Inverness.
