The defect was found between Craven Arms and Church Stretton, prompting immediate repairs.This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Network Rail Closes All Lines for Critical Maintenance

Due to the collapse, Network Rail has confirmed that train services will not run between the affected stations. Rail replacement buses are in operation at no extra cost, covering key routes, including Shrewsbury to Hereford and Llandrindod to Shrewsbury. Passengers should expect extended journey times and are advised to plan ahead.

Network Rail urges passengers to use their tickets on alternative routes, with no additional charge, on services operated by Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Great Western Railway, Northern, and West Midlands Railway. The disruption, expected to last until Tuesday, April 29, has impacted several lines, including the North Wales South Wales service and the Marches Line.

Network Rail Works to Restore Services Quickly

Rachel Heath, Operations Director for Network Rail Wales and Borders, expressed her apologies for the inconvenience caused by the disruption. She reassured passengers that the repair teams are working quickly and safely to restore normal services as soon as possible.

Transport for Wales’ Colin Lea also acknowledged the closure, stating that Network Rail teams are actively addressing the problem. Passengers are encouraged to check for updates before traveling to minimize disruptions.

Network Rail remains focused on restoring full service and ensuring the safety of all passengers.
