The new AC local trains will be integrated into the existing system within the next month. Currently, the network includes 66 AC services, but this addition will bring the total to 80 during peak hours. This increase is designed to meet the growing demand and improve commuter comfort during high-traffic times.
New AC Services Across Key Mumbai Routes
Central Railway plans to introduce 12 of these new services on the main line, specifically between CSMT and destinations like Kalyan, Kasara, and Khopoli. Two additional services will operate on the Trans Harbour line between Panvel and Thane. These routes are expected to reduce overcrowding during peak hours, making travel more manageable for commuters.
Improved Connectivity and No Additional Charges
The new services will also provide commuters with additional options, improving overall connectivity across the city. By enhancing the AC train network, Central Railway aims to make daily travel more comfortable, reducing the stress and discomfort often associated with crowded trains.
One of the most significant aspects of this development is that there will be no fare increase for passengers using the new AC services. This decision ensures that commuters can enjoy the benefits of premium transport without facing additional costs. Central Railway’s commitment to keeping fares under the existing system ensures that these services remain affordable while offering modern amenities.
This expansion is part of Central Railway’s broader strategy to promote AC travel and encourage more commuters to switch from conventional trains to these modern, air-conditioned alternatives. The goal is to make daily commutes more pleasant and less taxing, especially for those who travel during peak hours.
In conclusion, these 14 new AC local services will enhance the travel experience for thousands of commuters, providing them with more options for comfortable, stress-free journeys across Mumbai.
