The Department of Transportation (DOTr) briefs the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) led by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA)-Region III on the status of the San Jose Del Monte section of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 7 Project. (NEDA Region III)

During a briefing, the Regional Project Monitoring Committee received significant project updates. Engr. Suncris Cadiz, DOTr’s MRT-7 Project Manager, revealed the station’s adjusted spot near North Caloocan.

Previously, planners chose the Muzon-Tungkong Mangga Road intersection for the station’s site. Now, officials moved it closer to the San Jose Del Monte and North Caloocan boundary.

This station connects with 13 others along the 28.8-kilometer MRT-7 route, improving travel. It links to the upcoming LRT-MRT Unified Grand Central Terminal in Quezon City.

Construction of the Tala Station in North Caloocan starts after this station finishes. Meanwhile, workers completed 12 stations, targeting partial operations by late 2025 or 2026.

MRT-7 San Jose Del Monte Station Boosts Connectivity

With the location locked, Cadiz announced an Intermodal Transportation Terminal construction next door. This facility, holding 60 buses, enhances transport options and commuter efficiency significantly.

Additionally, a six-lane access road ties MRT-7 to major expressway interchanges soon. It connects to the Bocaue and Balagtas exits of the North Luzon Expressway effortlessly.

Proposals surfaced to extend MRT-7 beyond San Jose Del Monte, documents reveal. Authorities aim for Norzagaray, Santa Maria, and Balagtas, reaching the New Manila International Airport.

The $1.34 billion MRT-7 project runs under a Build-Operate-Transfer model, a partnership. San Miguel Corporation funds and manages the railway, transferring it later to the government.

MRT-7 San Jose Del Monte Station Drives Growth

Back in 2008, the NEDA Board approved MRT-7 during Arroyo’s administration. Construction began in 2016, advancing steadily toward modernizing regional transportation infrastructure.

Today, the project enhances mobility for commuters across Bulacan and surrounding areas. It fuels economic growth, so stakeholders push for its timely completion and expansion.

Officials predict the railway will reduce traffic and improve access to key regions. Consequently, MRT-7 stands as a crucial step forward for the Philippines’ infrastructure ambitions.
