DAKO-CZ, a well-known supplier of brake systems, has announced a major project to modernize trams in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The company will begin supplying hydraulic brake units for 79 trams, which will be modernized at the Škoda Ekova plant in Ostrava, owned by the Škoda group.

The original braking system of the M31 model trams consisted of a combination of a pneumatic braking system on the powered bogie and a hydraulic braking system on the standard bogie.

The innovation involves the use of a modified braking system on the standard bogie and the development of a new system for the powered bogie.
