21.01.2025
The Metro Manila Subway Project is advancing with a new TBM launched at Camp Aguinaldo Station. This development highlights the government’s commitment to modernizing public transportation systems nationwide. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Accelerating Progress on the Metro Manila Subway Project
The Metro Manila Subway Project includes Contract Package 103, where four tunnel boring machines (TBMs) will handle tunneling across a 6.5km stretch. This package covers the development of Anonas and Camp Aguinaldo stations, critical components of the 33km underground rail system.

JIM Technology TBM, launched by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), marks the fifth machine dedicated to this ambitious project. Other TBMs are already operational, serving northern sections like Quirino Highway and Tandang Sora.
Expedited Construction Plans for the Metro Manila Subway Project
Transportation Undersecretary Jeremy Regino announced plans to deploy 19 TBMs to ensure faster project completion. Despite budgetary limitations for 2025, the DOTr will resolve right-of-way issues and accelerate work on this flagship initiative.
Armed Forces Chief General Romeo Brawner emphasized the benefits of the subway for military personnel, civilians, and emergency services. Reliable and efficient transit will transform daily commutes and disaster response capabilities.
As of December 2024, the Metro Manila Subway’s construction progress is 18.24% complete. Upon completion in 2029, the subway will connect eight cities, reduce travel time, and serve over 500,000 passengers daily.
Transforming Urban Transit
The Metro Manila Subway Project represents a cornerstone of Philippine infrastructure development. With its advanced TBM technology and strategic planning, this subway promises to redefine public transportation while addressing Metro Manila’s traffic challenges.
