Measles exposure in DC prompts health warning for travelers

Measles exposure in DC was confirmed after a traveler with the virus passed through Dulles Airport and metro stations on June 8 and June 12. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
DC health officials issued a public alert after confirming a new measles case linked to an international visitor. The traveler arrived at Dulles International Airport on June 8 around 10:30 a.m. and later used metro services to reach downtown Washington.

The Department of Health has released a list of exposure sites. These include Concourse A and baggage claim areas at Dulles International Airport between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on June 8.
Measles exposure in DC linked to airport, metro, and schools
After leaving the airport, the traveler boarded the Silver Line train from Dulles to Metro Center, then transferred to the Red Line toward Shady Grove between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Later that day, the individual visited the Russian School of Mathematics in Chevy Chase, Maryland, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. They also took the L8 Metrobus southbound to Friendship Heights between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Health authorities added more exposure locations for June 12. That morning, the infected person boarded the H4 Metrobus westbound to Tenleytown from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
DC residents urged to check vaccination after measles exposure in DC
On the same day, they entered MedStar Health Pediatrics in Tenleytown between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Health professionals are now urging people who visited these locations to verify their vaccination records.
Measles symptoms include fever, rash, cough, and red eyes. DC residents who feel ill should call a doctor before visiting any clinic, helping reduce the risk of spreading the virus further.
So far, no additional infections have been reported. However, health officials continue monitoring the situation closely to protect the public.
